The Estonian Artists’ Association’s support auction will resume on Friday evening after unusually heavy traffic caused an outage, ERR reported. Eesti Kunstioksjonid, the company operating the auction, said it had fixed the fault and thoroughly tested the system.

The problem occurred in the auction application, and an initial suspicion of a cyberattack was not confirmed. Although organisers had prepared for strong interest, one part of the application could not handle the exceptional load. The server service provided by Zone operated without problems.

Because some bids may not have reached the system or may have been deleted, bidders have been asked to check their offers and resubmit them if necessary. This applies to both regular and automatic bids.

Only one work was sold during Thursday’s session: Jüri Arrak’s “Tiger”. Auction representative and host Reigo Kuivjõgi said the buyer had been contacted and the usual sale details were being confirmed.

The auction resumes at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 9, with Arrak’s “Games Around a Tree” and continues through Viktor Karrus’s “Legend”. Saturday’s session starts at 3 p.m. with Flo Kasearu’s “Tomorrow Is on Your Back”.

The auction is being held on October 9 and 10 at the ARS art campus and can also be watched live on ERR’s culture portal. Artists’ Association president Maarin Ektermann said the outage was regrettable and that the organisers had confirmed the system was repaired and tested.
