Tallinn opens Independent Dance Festival with Choreography+ series
Tallinn’s Independent Dance Festival opened on Thursday evening with the performance series “Choreography+”, ERR reported.
The Estonian series brought people from other fields onto the stage alongside dancers. Performance artist Anumai Raska teamed up with skateboarder, DJ and graffiti artist Lauri Tähe. Performance and voice artist Britt Kõrsmaa invited veteran voice specialist Ülle Kirss to perform with her. Writer and musician Jan Kaus and choreographer Elle Viies explore probability turning into improbability through different media.
The festival brings together dance artists from Japan, Germany, Sweden, Iran, Iceland, Greece, Finland, Latvia and Estonia. Its 10 days include 32 public events, from performances to workshops and discussions.
International dance performances will be presented at Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava, Tallinn City Hall, Von Krahl Theatre, Kai Art Center, Paavli Culture Factory and the Meriton water and sauna centre. The festival runs until October 17.
