Strong winds and rain forecast across Lithuania
Wind gusts on Lithuania’s coast could reach 30 metres per second on Friday, while rain is expected in many parts of the country, LRT reported, citing Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service forecaster Simona Dalinkevičiūtė.
Winds are forecast to reach 15–20 m/s in many areas and 21–23 m/s in some places. Near the coast, they could strengthen to 24–27 m/s, with gusts of 28–30 m/s possible by the afternoon. Rain will fall intermittently in many areas and may be heavy in some. Temperatures are expected to reach 10–14 degrees Celsius.
Conditions are expected to improve slightly on Saturday, although rain will continue. It is forecast in some areas overnight, mainly in the north, and across a larger part of the country during the day, with less intense rainfall. Winds will gradually ease, but gusts of 15–20 m/s are expected, including across much of the country overnight. Temperatures will range from 4–9 degrees overnight, with the coast a little warmer, and reach 12–16 degrees during the day.
Sunday is expected to be rainy in many districts, but mostly with light showers. Winds will ease to 7–12 m/s and could weaken further during the day. Temperatures are forecast at 7–12 degrees overnight and 12–17 degrees during the day.
Winds are expected to ease at the start of next week. Night-time temperatures will range from 2–8 degrees, with the coast a little warmer. Light frosts of 3–4 degrees below zero are possible at ground level. Daytime temperatures are forecast at 10–16 degrees.
