Estonia’s Eesti Laul 2027 song competition received 155 entries by Thursday noon, ERR reported. A jury of several dozen people will now assess them.
Of the entries, 60 are in Estonian and 95 in other languages. One song uses an invented language. Contributors from more than 20 countries are taking part, including Finland, Latvia, the United States and Australia.
Producer Riin Vann said the competition has become increasingly international, reflecting more cross-border collaboration among Estonian artists and songwriters.
The jury, made up of people working in or connected to music, will judge the songs without knowing who wrote or performed them. Twelve songs will reach the final, and the winner will be chosen at a concert at Unibet Arena on January 30.
Eesti Rahvusringhääling will announce the contestants in late October, and the songs will be heard for the first time in late November.
