Neil Simon comedy premieres in Estonia at Kuressaare Theatre

Neil Simon’s comedy “Barefoot in the Park” has premiered at Kuressaare Theatre, marking the play’s first production in Estonia, ERR reported.

Director Sander Pukk said he came across the play by chance while looking for another script. It follows a newly married couple who move into a tiny rented apartment on the top floor of a high-rise during their honeymoon, where everyday challenges test their relationship.

Pukk said the production focuses on relationships and love, which he said had not changed much over the centuries. Guest actor Argo Aadli said he was pleased to take on a pure comedy role, something he had not previously had the opportunity to do on stage.

The cast also includes Grete Konksi, Piret Rauk, Jürgen Gansen, Tanel Ting or Markus Habakukk, and Silver Õun.
