Vilnius smuggling operation damages border guard vehicle

LRT, citing the news portal Delfi, reported that people suspected of smuggling were detained in Vilnius on Thursday morning.

The operation took place in the Pašilaičiai neighbourhood, where a State Border Guard Service vehicle was damaged. Service spokesman Giedrius Mišutis confirmed to Delfi that people had been detained, a service weapon had been used and the vehicle had been damaged. He said no one was injured.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a pre-trial investigation but have not disclosed further details.
