Cigarette smugglers’ balloon gets stuck 30 metres up a tree

A balloon used by cigarette smugglers became lodged about 30 metres up a tree in Kaišiadorys district, but firefighters could not retrieve it, LRT reported.

Police called for help at 3:39 a.m. on Thursday, saying a smuggling balloon needed to be removed from a tree in Verdinių village, in the Žiežmariai subdistrict.

When firefighters arrived, they found the balloon’s remains caught in the tree at a height of about 30 metres. They had no way to bring them down.
