The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO) will perform Kenn-Eerik Kannike’s techno album “Computations” at Tallinn club Hall on Friday, October 9, ERR reports. The album has been arranged for classical instruments by Karl Tipp.

Originally created as an electronic music album, “Computations” combines classical instruments, techno and improvisation. The musicians have considerable freedom in their performance, meaning the work can sound somewhat different at each concert.

ERSO musician Johannes Kiik said the project was unusual for the orchestra. Its improvisational approach allows performers to take an active role in shaping each rendition, he said, adding that the concerts and a recording had given the orchestra a new dimension in the music scene.

An international night culture conference, “Dance Floor of Democracy,” will also take place at Hall on October 9. It will bring together European night culture leaders, city representatives, artists and cultural organisers to discuss the role of night culture in city life and public spaces, as well as cooperation between cities, clubs and communities. The conference will be held in English. Admission is free, but registration is required.

A club night will follow the ERSO concert, with performances by Chloe Lula from Berlin club Tresor, Miia Magia from Helsinki and Ciara May from Galway.
