The Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce this year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureates around midday on Wednesday. ERR said the press conference will also be broadcast by Novaator.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded since 1901. In 2026, the prize is worth 12 million Swedish kronor, or about 1.06 million euros. Laureates also receive a gold medal bearing a Nobel bas-relief and a diploma.

Last year’s prize went to Susumu Kitagawa of Japan, Richard Robson of Australia and Omar Yaghi of the United States for creating a new type of molecular architecture. Their metal-organic frameworks, or MOFs, can be made in many different forms and have potential applications including accelerating chemical reactions and capturing water and carbon dioxide from the air.
