Katta II Grüner opens sea-inspired art and fashion exhibition
Artist Katta II Grüner has opened a solo exhibition combining painting and fashion at the barrel gallery at Viimsi Artium, ERR reported. The exhibition, titled “Inspired by the Sea,” will run until November 8.
Grüner said she has brought images from her paintings into fashion because painting can sometimes feel distant to people. The motifs on the clothes offer a new form for her work and a way to reach a wider audience.
“I love playing with clothing styles, and I like fashion design. I think paintings on clothes create individuality and bring positive emotions. They also allow the work and its messages to reach a wider audience,” Grüner said.
Born in Haapsalu, Grüner lives between the seaside cities of Haapsalu and Tallinn. The sea, which she says has been part of her life throughout, is the starting point for both the paintings and fashion in the exhibition. She associates it with spaciousness and freedom and says it is where she finds peace and inspiration.
