Latvia’s Central Election Commission (CVK) has completed the preliminary count for the October 3 election to the 15th Saeima, including ballots cast by post, LSM reported. A total of 806,641 voters, or 51.79% of those eligible, took part.

Six parties crossed the 5% threshold: Apvienotais saraksts received 35.288% of the vote, Latvija pirmajā vietā 13.076%, Suverēnā vara/Apvienība Jaunlatvieši 11.710%, Nacionālā apvienība 8.897%, Progresīvie 7.878% and Jaunā Vienotība 6.362%.

Eight parties did not reach the threshold: Zaļo un Zemnieku savienība received 4.401%, Mēs mainām noteikumus 3.428%, Latvijas attīstībai 2.179%, Stabilitātei! 1.997%, Austošā Saule Latvijai 1.330%, Gobzema saraksts 0.982%, Saskaņas centrs 0.820% and Jaunā konservatīvā partija 0.327%.

The CVK said the results remain provisional and that it will approve the final results at a commission meeting. Detailed results by electoral district, polling station and party are available on the commission’s website.

The commission said the election was generally calm and well organised. It reviewed individual situations requiring additional action and, with other institutions, made decisions to keep the process going and ensure accurate counting.

“Behind every vote is a person and their trust in the electoral process. We take that responsibility very seriously. Our priority is to count every voter’s ballot accurately, so the compiled data are being carefully checked before the final results are approved,” CVK chair Māris Zviedris said.
