Nausėda to discuss Lithuania’s EU Council presidency in Italy and Greece

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda will discuss the country’s priorities for its 2027 presidency of the Council of the European Union during visits to Greece and Italy, LRT reported.

Nausėda is due in Athens on Monday and will visit Rome and Bari on October 6 and 7. His talks with leaders will cover bilateral relations, security and defence, EU enlargement and other matters on the bloc’s agenda, the president’s office said.

In Greece, he will meet Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. In Rome, he is scheduled to meet President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

At the end of the visit, Nausėda will unveil a bas-relief memorial plaque to Bona Sforza at Bari Castle.

First Lady Diana Nausėdienė will meet leaders of the Lithuanian community and Sunday school in Greece, visit St John the Baptist Hospital in Rome and meet representatives of the Order of Malta.
