Latvia starts counting votes after record-low turnout
Voting in Latvia’s 15th Saeima election ended at 8 p.m. local time, with ballots now being counted and turnout at its lowest ever in parliamentary elections, LSM reported.
The election passed without major incidents, and no cyber incidents were recorded. The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau received dozens of reports of possible violations, while police opened administrative offence proceedings in six cases involving disturbances of public order.
Voting will have to be held again at Riga Central Prison after officials found that one prisoner had voted using an expired identity card.
