Voter turnout in Daugavpils was among the lowest in Latgale by midday, while Rēzekne maintained high participation after strong advance voting, LSM reported. Residents interviewed said security, financial stability and access to healthcare were important issues for the next four years.

Daugavpils, the region’s largest city by number of eligible voters, has more than 54,000. Its turnout ranked fourth-lowest among Latgale municipalities by midday. Voters expressed differing expectations but said they wanted Latvia’s new parliament, the Saeima, to pay attention to the region’s interests.

Several Daugavpils voters highlighted state security, including concern about the situation involving drones. Others differed on the issue. One resident, Safonijs, said calls for peace were contradicted by actions that heightened tensions.

Some voters also said they hoped the new parliament would find solutions to the outflow of residents. Others spoke of wanting living standards to improve and said the country’s development depended on the people elected to lead it.
