Police receive 20 reports of possible election violations

Latvia’s State Police responded to 20 reports of possible violations during Saturday’s 15th Saeima election, opening administrative offence proceedings in four cases, LSM reported.

Two proceedings concern alleged breaches of campaign rules in Aknīste and Lestene, where party campaign materials were displayed on advertising boards in publicly accessible places. The cases have been referred to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau.

Two other proceedings were opened over public order violations that disrupted election station operations: one in Daugavpils and another in Riga, where a person damaged informational posters at a polling station.

Most of the reports were not confirmed, although checks are continuing in some cases.
