Riga voters urged people to take part in Latvia’s parliamentary election, saying those who do not vote should not complain about the result. LSM reported that voters spoke to Latvian Radio ahead of Saturday’s election for the 15th Saeima, Latvia’s parliament.

Voters can cast their ballots in advance on Friday, October 2, by placing them in storage at any polling station in Latvia between noon and 3 p.m. They can change their choice on election day, and only their last ballot will count.

One voter said people who stay away from the polls cannot complain when things go wrong, while another said voting was both an opportunity and a responsibility. Others said the elected parliament would shape the country’s next four years and that voting gave people a way to influence the situation.

One voter also said the election mattered because some political parties had not taken a clear position on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
