Tallinn has completed draft plans to rebuild Väike-Ameerika street and part of Luha street, ERR reported. The plans will be presented to the public on October 7.

The work would cover Väike-Ameerika street between Pärnu maantee and Tehnika street, as well as the section of Luha street between Väike-Ameerika and Koidu streets. A five-way intersection is to be replaced by a roundabout with a square-style layout, and intersections would be raised to slow traffic.

Two-way traffic will remain on Väike-Ameerika street. The roadway between Toom-Kuninga and Virmalise streets will be narrowed to four metres outside buildings at Väike-Ameerika 11, 13 and 15, leaving more space for pedestrians.

The plans include 61 parking spaces and three short-term stopping spaces by Tallinn University of Applied Sciences. Trees, shrubs and low-growing plants will also be added.

The speed limit will generally be 30 km/h, falling to 20 km/h at local junctions, including the intersection of Väike-Ameerika, Luha and Kesk-Ameerika streets. Bus 32 will run along Tehnika street under the changes.

The draft plans will be presented at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences on October 7.
