Estonia to reach 18C Thursday as high pressure keeps weather dry

High pressure will bring dry, calm weather to Estonia on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 14 to 18 degrees Celsius, ERR reports. Forecaster Taimi Paljak says fog is expected to clear and the sun should appear.

The high-pressure system stretches from the Greenland Sea to the Mediterranean, with its nearest centre over Finland. It is expected to expand across the Baltic region overnight and move behind Lake Peipus on Thursday. Winds will be light and there will be no rain.

Fog is expected in many places overnight. Temperatures will range from 4 to 10 degrees, reaching up to 14 degrees on the islands and along the western coast. In the morning, readings will be between 3 and 9 degrees; near ground level, temperatures in Virumaa could fall to zero.

Friday and Saturday are also expected to be dry and calm, with cool nights and a risk of frost at plant level. Daytime temperatures will rise a few degrees above 15. Winds will strengthen on Sunday and cloud cover will increase, though showers are expected to be isolated. The new week is forecast to bring more frequent rain and stronger winds.
