LSM party comparison tool records more than 100,000 uses

LSM.lv’s Party Sorter tool has been used more than 100,000 times, the public media outlet LSM reported. The figure counts uses, not individual visitors, as people can complete the questionnaire more than once.

The tool is designed to show voters where political parties agree or differ on various issues. Users can choose at least two topics they consider important, or compare their views with party positions across all seven topics covered.

Results show each party’s share of answers in four categories: full agreement, partial agreement, no major contradiction and radical contradiction. Users can also see prime ministerial candidates and sector specialists named by each party list.

The content was developed by public policy centre Providus, with input from non-governmental organisations and experts from academia and civil society. LSM.lv designed the tool and invited all 14 lists standing in the election to answer statements using five levels of agreement or disagreement.

Latvia’s parliamentary election is scheduled for Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters may cast their ballots at any polling station. Ballots can also be deposited in advance at polling stations on September 30, October 1 and October 2 during specified hours.
