Prosecutors name mufti suspect in trafficking and forgery probe

Romas Jakubauskas, the mufti of Lithuania’s Sunni Muslim Spiritual Centre, is among seven people suspected in a pre-trial investigation into human trafficking and document offences, LRT reported.

Gintarė Vitkauskaitė-Šatkauskienė, a spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office, confirmed to the ELTA news agency that the investigation concerns suspected human trafficking and the forgery or possession of forged documents. Two legal entities are also suspects in the case.

Prosecutors said 64 people have so far been recognised as victims in the investigation. The story was first reported by TV3.lt.
