LSM tool lets voters compare their views with parties

Voters can compare their views with political parties using LSM’s “Party sorter” ahead of Latvia’s 15th Saeima elections, LSM reports. The tool is available on LSM.lv.

Users can select at least two of seven topics to compare their views with parties’ positions, or answer questions across all seven topics. Results show the degree of agreement or disagreement with each party in four categories, ranging from full agreement to sharp differences.

The results also list candidates for prime minister and sector specialists if the party lists have named them. By the morning of Monday, September 28, the tool had been used more than 75,000 times. That figure does not represent unique users, as visitors can complete the questionnaire more than once.

The questionnaire was developed by the public policy centre Providus with input from civil society organisations and experts. LSM.lv designed the tool. All 14 lists registered for the election were invited to answer its questions.

The 15th Saeima elections will take place on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters can cast their ballots at any polling station.
