Vilnius court sentences man to 2.5 years for child sex crimes

A Vilnius court sentenced Aurimas Giedraitis to two years and six months in prison for distributing child pornography and sexually molesting minors, LRT reported Monday.

Giedraitis was convicted of offences involving pornographic material depicting a child and three instances of molesting minors. The court also ordered him to pay compensation for damages.

Judge Jeugenijušas Jaglinskis said Giedraitis had fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse, so his sentence was reduced by one-third under the law.

The ruling can still be appealed.

BNS reported that Giedraitis had previously been sentenced to prison alongside three other men for sexual offences against young girls. They had communicated with the girls about sex on dating websites and persuaded them to take nude photographs.
