Shopper injured while trying to stop alcohol theft in Vilnius

A shopper was injured after trying to detain a woman who allegedly stole alcohol from a shop in Vilnius, LRT reported.

Police said the incident occurred at about 9:35 p.m. at a shop on Pelesos Street. The shopper detained the woman as she attempted to steal bottles of alcohol.

Another person then entered the shop, threatened the shopper and ordered him to release the woman. The person allegedly injured the shopper with a knife.

The attackers stole an undetermined amount of alcoholic drinks and fled. The material damage is still being assessed.

The shopper, who may have been injured with the knife, left the shop before emergency services arrived.

At about 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, police detained a man born in 2005 and a woman born in 2000 in an apartment on Liudvinavo Street in Vilnius. They were taken into custody.

A pretrial investigation has been launched.
