Forecaster expects brief rain and more sunshine in southern Lithuania

Saturday will be relatively calm in Lithuania, with brief showers in some areas and more sunshine in the south, LRT reported, citing Elena Kliukina of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

The sky will be cloudy with sunny spells. Showers are most likely in western Lithuania. Southwesterly winds will reach 9 to 14 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 17 metres per second in some western areas. Temperatures will rise to 17 to 22 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, a cyclone that formed over Scandinavia will reach Lithuania. Intermittent rain is expected in many districts, with heavy showers and possible thunderstorms during the day. Southwesterly winds will reach 8 to 13 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 17 metres per second on the coast. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and from 17 to 22 degrees during the day.

Rainy weather will continue on Monday as the cyclone moves east. Some areas may see heavy rain overnight, while daytime precipitation will be intermittent and weaker. Southwesterly and westerly winds will reach 8 to 13 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 18 metres per second in western Lithuania. Temperatures will drop to 9 to 14 degrees at night and 13 to 18 degrees during the day.

From Tuesday, the cyclone will begin to retreat, although brief showers will remain possible in many districts. Winds will gradually weaken and turn northerly. Night-time temperatures will be around 11 to 13 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 13 to 18 degrees.
