Brief rain expected in Lithuania as southern districts see more sun

LRT reports that Saturday will be relatively calm in Lithuania, with brief rain in some places, mainly in the western part of the country. The sky will be cloudy with sunny spells, while the southern districts are expected to see more sunshine, according to Elena Kliukina, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Southwesterly winds will reach 9 to 14 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 17 metres per second possible in western Lithuania. Temperatures will rise to 17 to 22 degrees.

On Sunday, a cyclone formed over Scandinavia will reach Lithuania, bringing intermittent rain to most districts. Some areas may see heavy rain and thunderstorms during the day.

Southwesterly winds will remain fairly strong at 8 to 13 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 17 metres per second expected on the coast. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees at night and from 17 to 22 degrees during the day.

Rainy weather will continue on Monday as the cyclone moves east. Rain will be heavy in some places overnight, while daytime precipitation will be intermittent and somewhat lighter. Southwesterly and westerly winds will reach 8 to 13 metres per second, with gusts of 15 to 18 metres per second in western Lithuania. Temperatures will fall to 9 to 14 degrees at night and 13 to 18 degrees during the day.

From Tuesday, the cyclone will begin to retreat, although brief rain will remain possible in many districts. Winds will gradually weaken and turn north. Temperatures will remain similar, at around 11 to 13 degrees at night and 13 to 18 degrees during the day.
