Tallinn TV Tower pairs Brâncuși exhibition with young Estonian sculptors

ERR reports that an exhibition placing works by three young Estonian sculptors in dialogue with a poster exhibition on the monumental art of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși opened in the lobby of Tallinn TV Tower on September 15.

The exhibition, titled “Measure and Thought: A Dialogue Between Constantin Brâncuși and Young EKA Sculptors,” features works by Lotta Karoliina Räsänen, Ivor Mikker and Daniil Musesov. Their works explore roots, mythology and the search for form.

Kertu Saks, a member of the Tallinn TV Tower’s management board, said the exhibition also encourages visitors to see the tower from a new perspective.

“As one of Estonia’s most important symbolic institutions, the TV Tower is itself like a work of monumental art from the 1980s. Exhibiting the dialogue between the young EKA sculptors and Constantin Brâncuși also highlights what a gem of concrete architecture the TV Tower is,” Saks said.

Brâncuși, who was born in Romania and spent much of his life working in Paris, is regarded as one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century. One of his most exceptional achievements is considered to be the monumental ensemble in Târgu Jiu, dedicated to those who died defending the city during the First World War. The ensemble was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2024.

The exhibition also marks the 150th anniversary of Brâncuși’s birth.

“We start from the idea that the TV Tower belongs to all of us. We want people with different interests and backgrounds to find their way here for different reasons. The exhibition creates a meeting place for students, universities, art lovers and those who want to discover the tower’s own monumental dimension,” Saks said.

The exhibition will remain open at Tallinn TV Tower until the end of October.
