The Estonian government will keep unemployment insurance contribution rates unchanged through 2030, ERR reported. The insured person’s rate will remain 1.6 percent and the employer’s rate 0.8 percent, for a combined rate of 2.4 percent.

The Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund had initially proposed keeping the rates unchanged in 2027 and reducing them from 2028. Following a proposal from the Ministry of Finance, the government decided to maintain the current rates until 2030.

With the rates unchanged, contribution revenue is forecast at 366.5 million euros in 2027, 383.5 million euros in 2028, 400.6 million euros in 2029 and 418.7 million euros in 2030.

The measure is intended to ensure that the Unemployment Insurance Fund has the resources needed to carry out its duties. It will take effect on January 1, 2027.
