LRT reported that the Lithuanian military has released footage showing debris scattered across fields at the centre of a drone shootdown in Kaišiadorys district. It is not yet known whether the debris is from the drone, while preliminary information indicates that some of it may be plywood.
Military police are guarding the area, where special services are examining the site.
A suspected air alert was declared overnight in Vilnius and Kaunas counties after a drone was detected. The alert was lifted after the drone was destroyed by a NATO fighter.
Initial information indicated that the drone had been destroyed near the village of Navasiolkai in Alytus district. The National Crisis Management Centre later уточed that it was shot down near the village of Pratkūnai in Kaišiadorys district.
Allied Italian fighter jets that took off from the air base in Šiauliai destroyed the drone using missile weapons. Preliminary data indicates that it entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarus.
Early Tuesday, authorities blocked the road near the Darsūniškis and Anglininkai road sign, close to the town of Kruonis. Police and military police crews took turns guarding the road, preventing residents and journalists from passing through.
