Vaal Gallery opens exhibition from Kruus family art collection

Vaal Gallery has opened “Space,” an exhibition from the art collection of Epp and Martin Kruus, ERR reported. The exhibition opened on September 11 and will remain on display until October 10.

The Kruuses said they discovered art in the late 1980s through the Art Hall’s Spring Exhibitions, which marked the beginning of their more conscious interest in art.

“What attracted us most at the time was abstractionism in its various forms: symbolism, minimalism, and the magic of light, colour and space,” they said. “This also led to the exhibition’s theme and title, where connections unfold between artificial space and nature, extending all the way to the universe.”

They said the exhibition places the human being at its centre, with the human mind generating psychological, intellectual and value-based spaces. In both physical and conceptual spaces, they said, art creates order and clarity while offering joy and satisfaction.

The family’s active collecting has developed over the past decade, with contemporary and older works, including pieces by foreign artists, added to the collection. Vaal Gallery has previously presented collections belonging to Indrek Orro, Laur Kivistik and Kaido Ole.

The exhibition is titled “Space.”
