Poco Art Museum in Tallinn will open an exhibition of David Bowie photographs by Japanese photographer Masayoshi Sukita on October 9, ERR reported.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 photographs documenting Sukita and Bowie’s 40-year creative partnership. It will arrive in Tallinn from Gothenburg, the previous stop on its European tour.

“Bowie x Sukita has travelled through the world’s largest museums and cultural palaces. Its arrival in Tallinn is the strongest confirmation for us that Poco has reached an international level, operating as an equal among the world’s best art institutions,” Poco founder Linnar Viik said.

He added that Tallinn audiences deserved the opportunity to see world-class art in their home city.

Sukita came to photograph Bowie despite neither of them speaking the other’s language. After seeing a poster of Bowie on a London street in 1972, Sukita immediately knew he had to photograph him.

He followed Bowie to locations around the world, from press conferences in Tokyo and studio sessions in Berlin to the streets of Kyoto and concert stages in New York.

The exhibition, titled “Bowie x Sukita x Poco,” will remain open until April 25 next year.
