Palanga resident loses nearly €10,700 through fake bank link

A Palanga resident lost nearly 10,700 euros after entering banking details through a fake bank link, LRT reported, citing the Police Department.

At about 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, the man, born in 1957, accessed the fraudulent link from his home and entered his electronic banking password. Fraudsters then withdrew 10,690 euros from his account.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched.

Another resident also lost money in a suspected investment scam. Vilnius police said they received a report on Thursday from a man born in 1952 who said an unknown person had fraudulently taken 3,400 euros from him after offering an investment opportunity.

The alleged fraud took place in the Vilnius district between August 29 and September 10. A pre-trial investigation has been opened.
