Estonian television drama Õnne 13 will return for its 34th season with new relationships, familiar couples and new characters, ERR reports. The season premiere will air on ETV on Saturday, September 12, at 8:30 p.m.

Screenwriter Andra Teede said the new season would bring more love and passion to Morna. Alma and Laine will both find partners, while Evelin will continue travelling between Estonia and Spain and gather the courage to show her feelings to Henry again.

“The most complicated relationship is probably Evelin’s,” Teede said, promising further developments in the couple’s story.

The season will also feature elections. Oliver-Sten hopes to become a minister and is assembling a team, while Margna would like to become president. Businesspeople want to bring a nuclear power plant to Morna, and farmers will have to deal with disappointments related to keeping dairy cattle.

None of the series’ established characters will leave the show. Actor Ragnar Uustal will join the cast as Jürgen, a builder who works for Jaanus’s company and comes to Anneli’s home to carry out repairs. Teede said Anneli would immediately take an interest in him.

The season premiere will be the 973rd episode of Õnne 13, bringing the series closer to its 1,000th episode. The creators have not yet decided how to mark the milestone, but Teede said it should be special and spectacular.

Teede is writing the series for the 13th year. She said the show’s stories would not run out as long as new things continued to happen in life, and added that she hoped to place the long-running characters in situations they had not faced before.

She also said the series’ longevity was unusual because most of its 1,000 episodes had been filmed with largely the same actors and its producers had never changed.
