Igor Lider’s new dance production “Eight” will premiere on September 19 at the Estonian Dance Agency’s theatre hall, ERR reports. An excerpt from the work was presented at the Jõhvi dance festival in April.
“Eight” is a contemporary dance production built not around a linear narrative but around emotions, atmosphere and the visual language of movement. A group of dancers constantly changes its form, dynamics and state on stage, merging from individual bodies into a single whole.
Sound and movement are inseparable in Lider’s work. As both the production’s choreographer and composer, he creates the music and dance through a shared organic process.
The cast includes Mariann Onkel, Marko Reitalu, Maria Uppin-Sarv, Sofia Kruusamägi, Anastasiia Lider, Edgar Budza and Aneta Varts. Marita Keskküla is the lighting designer, Viktoria Martjanova the costume designer, Kadi Aare the graphic designer and Artur Kriuk the videographer.
After the opening performances, the autumn season will bring a programme to audiences in the capital and across Estonia. In October, the Romanian dance production “Lift” by the M Studio theatre company will tour through Tantsumenüü.
On October 31, the Estonian Dance Agency Company will premiere a double bill featuring French choreographer Noah Meteau’s “Styx” and Juulius Vaiksoo’s new production “Fools of Their Own Lives”. The improvisational dance production “Moment” will also be performed at cultural centres across Estonia.
