Firefighters find no flames after smoke reported in Šilalė municipal building

A fire was reported Thursday in a municipal building on Šolių Street in Šilalė, LRT reported, citing the Emergency Response Centre.

The centre received the report at 2 p.m. Fire and rescue units from Šilalė and Šilalė District were sent to the scene.

Edita Zdanevičienė, chief specialist at the Fire and Rescue Department’s Communications Division, told ELTA that an archive operates at the address.

Firefighters were told that smoke could be smelled inside the building. They inspected the premises but found no signs of burning and ventilated the rooms. Firefighters remained at the scene on standby.
