Latvian Radio questions leaders of two election lists

LSM reports that Latvian Radio’s Krustpunktā programme is questioning leaders of political lists standing in Latvia’s 15th Saeima elections, together with radio listeners.
Wednesday’s first programme segment features Jūlija Stepaņenko, leader of Suverēnā vara/Apvienība Jaunlatvieši and the party’s candidate for prime minister. The second segment features Jāzeps Baško, a representative of Mēs mainām noteikumus and the first candidate on the party’s Riga constituency list.

The 15th Saeima elections will take place on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station.
Fourteen candidate lists have been submitted for the elections. From September 28 until election day, voters will also be able to deposit their ballots for safekeeping at all polling stations in Latvia during specified hours: from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on September 28; from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on September 29; from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on September 30; from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 1; and from noon to 3 p.m. on October 2.
The election campaign period began on June 5. The newly elected 15th Saeima will convene for its first sitting on November 3, when the current 14th Saeima’s term will end.
