Lithuania to reach 28 degrees before cooler, wetter weather

Wednesday will be mostly sunny across Lithuania, with temperatures reaching 23 to 28 degrees, but cooler and wetter conditions are expected from Thursday, LRT reported.

Simona Dalinkevičiūtė, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, told LRT Radio that a cold atmospheric front will cross the country on Wednesday. Rain will be brief and limited to some areas, mainly in western Lithuania. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible.

Southeasterly to southerly winds will shift to southwesterly to westerly winds, reaching 7 to 12 metres per second. Temperatures along the coast will be slightly lower.

Clouds will thicken overnight into Thursday, bringing rain to many areas, locally heavy, with thunderstorms possible in some places. Strong southwesterly to westerly winds will continue. Overnight temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees.

Rain will ease during Thursday but remain widespread, while the risk of thunderstorms will fall to a minimum. Winds will stay unsettled and may reach 15 to 18 metres per second in gusts along the coast, possibly rising to 20 metres per second. Daytime temperatures will reach 16 to 21 degrees.

Brief showers will remain widespread in places on Friday night, while rain clouds will appear only locally during the day. Friday will be windy, with gusts reaching 17 to 18 metres per second overnight.

Rain will be limited over the weekend and winds will ease, becoming mostly moderate. Night-time temperatures will range from 7 to 12 degrees, with slightly higher readings along the coast, while daytime temperatures will reach 17 to 21 degrees.
