Police arrest man accused of robbing woman at Vilnius bus stop

LRT reported that police arrested a young Lithuanian man after a woman was attacked and robbed at a bus stop in Vilnius’s Antakalnis district early Tuesday.

Police received a report of the incident shortly before 6 a.m. An unidentified man approached the woman from behind, knocked her to the ground and may have struck her once or several times. He then took her handbag containing personal belongings and money.

Officers searched Sapiegų Park, a park in Vilnius, and found items scattered there. The suspected attacker was arrested later in the day.

Police have opened a pre-trial investigation into robbery.
