Police detain suspect after elderly woman found dead in Panevėžys

LRT reported that an elderly woman was found dead in an apartment in Panevėžys early Monday morning, and police have detained a man suspected of murder.

The body of the woman, who was born in 1937, was found at about 5:22 a.m. in an apartment on Nevėžio Street, according to the Police Department.

The suspect, a man born in 1965, has been placed in police custody. Authorities have opened a pre-trial investigation into the killing.
