Sinkevičius government to make first regional visit to Klaipėda

LRT reported that Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius’s government will travel to Klaipėda on Tuesday for its first regional working visit, a two-day trip focused on issues affecting the coastal region.

According to Gedas Salyga, an adviser to the prime minister, government members will meet representatives of local government, business and the academic community. They will also inspect the infrastructure of the Klaipėda port and liquefied natural gas terminal and review their near-term development plans.

The visit is the first to the regions by the 21st Government led by Sinkevičius. Before becoming prime minister, he said his government would give particular attention to the regions, including ensuring access to quality healthcare, education, social and cultural services in every municipality. He also pledged to encourage investment and the creation of well-paid jobs.

The government will hold a meeting in the port city to approve its programme implementation plan. The plan includes creating and developing an integrated air defence system by the third quarter of 2028 and ensuring that at least 70 percent of patients receive an initial appointment with a specialist within 30 days.

The government also aims to ensure that the average old-age pension reaches at least 50 percent of the country’s average net wage.
