LSM, citing Latvian Radio’s News Service, reported that two stray dogs attacked children from the Riekstiņš preschool in Carnikava, a locality in Ādaži Municipality, shortly before noon on Friday. The children were on a walk when the attack occurred.
Several children and a swimming instructor were injured in the attack by dogs of the husky breed. The Emergency Medical Service took two children to a medical facility.
Ādaži Mayor Gatis Miglāns said the group had been walking along an agreed route, which the Riekstiņš preschool had used for more than 30 years. “Two escaped dogs jumped on them, and there are injuries,” he said.
Miglāns said four people were injured in total. The State Police, municipal police, social services and psychologists have been involved, and three administrative proceedings have been opened. The dogs’ owners have been found, and the animals were handed over to them.
