Kahar learns lasso skills in Norway, catches artificial moose

Television host Kaidor Kahar completed lasso training in Norway and took part in a competition to catch an artificial moose with a plastic rope, ERR reported. The competition attracted 150 participants and offered a 2,500-euro prize fund.

Kahar travelled to Finland, Sweden and Norway to film the ETV series Meie hõimlased, which follows visits to related peoples. In the Norwegian city of Karasjok, which he compared in size to the Estonian town of Võhma, he discovered that a small shop sold lasso-making materials.

He bought the materials, and a Sámi woman named Joanna agreed to make a lasso for him. She later sent him six more lasso sets, leaving Kahar with seven at home because he wanted to continue practising the skill.

Kahar had planned to hold a lasso-throwing workshop at a friend’s party, but the additional lassos arrived after the event. He also fulfilled his wish to ski and ride under the northern lights during his trip.
