Latvia’s political parties and alliances are divided over whether the country’s current Saeima election system should be changed, LSM reported after asking the political forces for their views.

The responses fall into three groups. The United List, The Rising Sun for Latvia, the New Conservative Party, the National Alliance, and the Union of Greens and Farmers said no changes are needed.

New Unity, For Latvia’s Development, the Progressives, and Stability! said the system could be improved but should not be changed radically.

Gobzems’ List, Latvia First, We Change the Rules, and Harmony Centre said the election system should be changed.
