German shepherd breeder calls for budget reform and social cohesion

Solvita Vēvere, a German shepherd breeding kennel owner with 30 years of experience in public administration, wants Latvia to overhaul how the state budget is prepared and reduce bureaucracy, LSM reported.

Speaking ahead of elections to Latvia’s 15th Saeima, Vēvere said she hoped someone would finally have the wisdom, courage and understanding to organise the state budget, minimise bureaucracy, allow businesses to operate and enable pensioners to live with dignity.

Vēvere said she had compared the situation of German shepherd breeders in the Baltic states. There are more breeders in Lithuania, while breeders in Estonia are doing better. In Latvia, she said, they could be counted on one hand.

She urged candidates from political parties to consider how to make more people in Latvia tolerant and respectful of one another. She also wants children to receive a good education, an issue she said no one had yet managed to resolve.

Only a prosperous and educated society will welcome a pet into its home, Vēvere added, saying the animal should also be intelligent and well educated.
