Estonia’s summer was warmer than average despite frequent rain

Estonia’s average air temperature last summer was 16.8 degrees Celsius, making it slightly warmer than usual, ERR reported, citing the Environment Agency.

Meteorological summer ended in August. Frequent rainfall made the season wetter than average, while there was less sunshine.

The hottest day was June 29 in Valga, when the temperature reached 29.7 degrees. The coldest conditions were recorded on June 2 in Kuusiku, where the overnight minimum fell to 3.8 degrees.

July was the warmest summer month. Only one short heatwave was recorded during the summer, in southern Estonia. The summer’s only tropical night occurred in southwestern Estonia in July.
