ETV launches eight-part series on new architecture

ETV, a television channel, is launching the eight-part series “New Architecture” on Thursday, ERR reports. The opening episode asks how history can be kept alive.

The series follows “Wood in Architecture,” “Unfinished City” and “Built to Last.” It introduces Estonian architecture, its creators and issues arising from current conditions.

The new series focuses on cultural heritage, including monuments, heritage buildings, buildings in heritage conservation areas, and industrial and military heritage. It also examines how climate-related changes should be considered when renovating old buildings and constructing new ones to protect them from climate damage.

“New architecture” is presented primarily as an environmentally sustainable approach and way of working, whether through architectural and technical solutions, the use of materials or decisions about space.

The programmes cover restoration, circular architecture, the balance between buildings and nature, good public space and new landmarks being completed.
