Mikrotīkls donates another €1 million to children’s hospital fund

Latvian network equipment manufacturer Mikrotīkls has donated €1 million to the Children’s Hospital Foundation, continuing a partnership focused on child health and the development of the Children’s Hospital, LSM reported, citing the foundation.

The company’s total donations to the foundation since 2015 have reached €8,767,115.

The latest donation will support ongoing projects and new initiatives aimed at providing children and young people in Latvia with more modern diagnostics, treatment and care.

Since 2015, Mikrotīkls donations have funded more than 200 support initiatives benefiting thousands of children and their families.

More than €3.3 million has so far been allocated to paediatric oncology projects. These include the genomic analysis of tumour cell samples from patients at the Children’s Hospital’s Haemato-Oncology Department, carried out at the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre. More than €590,000 has been approved for that project.

The company’s support has also helped the Children’s Hospital purchase medical equipment, improve its facilities, support the creation of a Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, rebuild rehabilitation infrastructure, improve patient wellbeing and fund the professional development of doctors and other specialists at leading medical centres around the world.

Mikrotīkls has also supported camps for Ukrainian children and their families.

“Each Mikrotīkls donation has made it possible to carry out projects that would otherwise have taken years to implement or would not have been possible at all,” said Liene Dambiņa, chairwoman of the Children’s Hospital Foundation board. “Thanks to this support, children in Latvia receive modern diagnostics, innovative treatment and life-saving medicines.”
