Kaunas district investigates two employees over Raudondvaris Manor

Kaunas District Municipality has launched an internal investigation into the actions of two employees following information published by LRT Investigations about Raudondvaris Manor, LRT reported.

Municipal administration director Mantas Rikteris said at a meeting of the Kaunas District Anti-Corruption Commission that an order had been prepared to establish an investigative commission after information was received both orally and in writing.

“The commission will examine the actions of two administration employees: the head of the Public and International Relations Division and the division’s chief specialist,” Rikteris said. He added that these were the people mentioned in the investigation.

The head of the division is Aistė Sinkevičienė, the spouse of Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

In mid-August, LRT Investigations reported that Raudondvaris Manor had become a workplace for people linked to the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, with Sinkevičienė receiving a second salary there.

The public broadcaster also reported that, until several months earlier, the manor employed Aurelija, the spouse of Kaunas District Mayor and Social Democrat Valerijus Makūnas. The manor also employs the mayor’s adviser Loreta Navakauskienė and her spouse, Jūratė Kuzmickaitė, an adviser to the minister of education, science and sport in the Lithuanian Parliament, as well as the son of longtime manor director Snieguolė Navickienė and other people linked to the ruling Social Democrats.

Rikteris said manor staff would not be included in the investigation because the inquiry could not cover other institutions.

Raudondvaris Manor receives most of its funding from Kaunas District Municipality and has a budget of about 4 million euros.
