Lithuania turns back 30 migrants at Belarus border

Lithuanian border guards turned back 30 irregular migrants at the border with Belarus over the past 24 hours, LRT reported on Tuesday, citing the State Border Guard Service.

Latvian border guards turned back 22 migrants on Monday, while no attempts to enter Poland illegally were recorded at the Polish border on Sunday.

More than 1,300 irregular migrants have been refused entry to Lithuania this year. In 2025, people attempted to enter the country illegally from Belarus more than 1,600 times, compared with 1,002 attempts in 2024.

Since the start of the migration crisis caused by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,800 foreigners from entering the country illegally. The flow of migrants from Belarus to the eastern EU member states began in 2021, and Western countries accuse the Minsk regime of organising it.
