Daniel Levi’s childhood home recreated as detailed scale model

Musician Daniel Levi Viinalass’s childhood home in Tartu has been recreated as a detailed scale model for the cover of his album Home Away From Home, ERR reported on the Ringvaade programme.

Viinalass said the house on Starkopf Street had always been full of activity and people. Family members, students and people in need of accommodation have stayed there over the years.

“Home is a place where there is always bustle and life, and there has been plenty of that here,” Viinalass said. He added that he had written his first songs in the house, where he felt supported enough to play them for other people.

The model was made by Tartu-based artist Ebrahim Bakhshayeshi, who is known for creating highly detailed miniature buildings. Viinalass found Bakhshayeshi on TikTok, where he saw models of different places in Tartu.

Bakhshayeshi visited the house, met Viinalass’s family and took photographs before beginning the project. “I have made many houses for companies that are put up for presale, but this was something different. I love this project. It is more meaningful to me to make something that matters so much to someone,” he said.

Bakhshayeshi recalled that when Viinalass first contacted him, he had a fever of nearly 40 degrees Celsius and was initially confused about who was calling.
