Narva-Jõesuu plans to buy the resort hall from private owners and renovate it into a year-round event centre, ERR reported. The project is expected to include a conference centre, restaurant, youth centre and tourist information point.

The Art Nouveau Narva-Jõesuu resort hall was completed in 1912 and is listed in the cultural heritage register. Much of the building was damaged during the Second World War.

A company linked to businessman Tiit Vähi bought the hall 21 years ago, but plans to establish a hotel and restaurant there did not materialise. To make the building eligible for potential European Union funding, the Narva-Jõesuu city council decided to buy the hall and related properties for 375,000 euros.

Narva-Jõesuu Mayor Maksim Iljin said the total investment would be approximately 10 million euros. The city plans not only to restore the existing building but also to construct a concert hall.

According to Iljin, the city has long lacked facilities for holding large events outside the summer season.
